Championnat des Quatre continents fructueux pour les États-Unis et la Corée

Le tout premier championnat des quatre continents en longue piste a eu lieu le week-end dernier à Milwaukee aux États-Unis.

Des patineurs de neuf pays, dont les États-Unis, la Corée, la Chine, le Canada et le Kazakhstan, s’affrontaient à Milwaukee le weekend dernier pour tenter de remporter les premiers titres de champions des quatre continents en longue piste. 

Les Coréens grands gagnants sur 500m

La Coréenne Min-Sun Kim a remporté le 500m féminin devant la Canadienne Brooklyn McDougall et la Coréenne Hyun-Yung Kim. Le 500 m masculin a également été remporté par un Coréen alors que Kim Joon-Ho a établi un nouveau record de piste de 34,592 pour devancer le Canadien Alex Boisvert-Lacroix et le Kazakh Roman Krech. 

Kilburg et Schigolev, champions des longues distances

L’Américaine Mia Kilburg-Manganello a remporté le 3000 m féminin en 4:07.005, battant la Kazakhe Nadezhda Morozova et la Japonaise Nana Takahashi. Le 5000m masculin s’est soldé par une course serrée entre les coéquipiers Vitaliy Schigolev et Dimity Morozov du Kazakhstan. Schigolev a finalement réalisé le meilleur temps en franchissant la distance en 6:19.335, son nouveau record personnel. Morozov a remporté l'argent et l'Américain Emery Lehman le bronze. 

Le Canada et la Corée en tête au sprint par équipes

Les Canadiennes ont remporté le sprint par équipes féminin devant les Coréennes et les Chinoises alors que les Coréens ont gagné chez les hommes, battant la Chine et le Kazakhstan. 

Bocox et Kim remportent les titres du 1500m

La favorite de la foule Brianna Bocox a remporté le titre de championne des quatre continents sur 1500m en réalisant un nouveau record personnel de 1:57.176. Nadezhda Morozova du Kazakhstan et Park Ji Woo de la Corée ont complété le podium féminin sur la distance. Le médaillé olympique coréen Kim Min-Seok a remporté le 1500m masculin devant les Canadiens Jess Neufeld et Jake Weidemann. 

Un autre titre pour Kilburg au départ groupe

L'Américaine Mia Kilburg-Manganello a remporté un deuxième titre grâce à son solide sprint final au départ en groupe. Les Coréennes Kim Bo-Reum et Park Ji-Woo, ont franchi la ligne d'arrivée en deuxième et troisième position. Les Coréens Um Cheon-Ho et Chung Jae-Won, deux spécialistes de l’épreuve, ont pris les deux premières places du classement masculin. L'Américain Ian Quinn est arrivé en troisième position. 

Victoires de Bocox et Kubo sur 1000m

L'Américaine Brianna Bocox a remporté son deuxième titre et établi son deuxième record personnel du week-end en patinant son 1000m en 1:15.537. La Japonaise Rio Yamada et l'Américaine Mia Kilburg-Manganello ont terminé en deuxième et troisième position. Le Japonais Koki Kubo a remporté le 1000 m masculin, devançant le Canadien Laurent Dubreuil de 0,002 seconde. Le Coréen Kim Jin-Su a obtenu le bronze.

La poursuite par équipes va aux États-Unis et au Canada

Les États-Unis ont ajouté un titre supplémentaire à leur grand week-end en remportant la poursuite par équipes féminine devant le Canada et la Chine. Chez les hommes, l'équipe canadienne a remporté l'or devant celles de la Corée et du Kazakhstan.

Successful Four Continents Championships for the United States and Korea

The first ever long track speed skating Four continents championships were skated last weekend at the Pettit ice center in Milwaukee, US.

Skaters from nine countries including the United States, Korea, China, Canada and Kazhakstan competed in Milwaukee at the first Four continents champion titles in long track. 

Korea big winners on 500m

Korean Min-Sun Kim won the ladies’ 500m in front of Canadian Brooklyn McDougall and Korean Hyun-Yung Kim. The men’s 500m was also won by a Korean as Kim Joon-Ho skated a new track record of 34.592 to beat Canada’s Alex Boisvert-Lacroix and Kazakhstan’s Roman Krech.

Kilburg and Schigolev long distances champions

Crowd favorite Mia Kilburg-Manganello won the ladies’ 3000m with a time of 4:07.005. Kazakh Nadezhda Morozova and Japanese Nana Takahashi completed the podium. The men’s 5000m was a tight race between teammates Vitaliy Schigolev and Dimity Morozov from Kazhakstan. Schigolev finally had the fastest time of 6:19.335, his new personal best. Morozov took silver and American Emery Lehman bronze.

Canada and Korea at the top in the team sprint

The Canadian women's team won the ladie's team sprint ahead of the Koreans and the Chinese while the Koreans won the men's team sprint, beating China and Kazakhstan.

Bocox and Kim get the 1500m titles

Crowd favorite Brianna Bocox won the 1500m Four continents title registering a personal best time of 1:57.176. Nadezhda Morozova from Kazakhstan and Park Ji Woo from Korea completed the ladies’ podium on the distance. Olympic medalist Kim Min-Seok from Korea won the men’s 1500m in front of Canadians Jess Neufeld and Jake Weidemann. 

Another one for Kilburg in the mass start

United States’ Mia Kilburg-Manganello won her second title of the weekend with her great final sprint in the mass start. Kim Bo-Reum and Park Ji-Woo from Korea crossed the line in second and third. Mass start specialist from Korea Um Cheon-Ho and Chung Jae-Won took the first two places in the men’s ranking. American Ian Quinn was third. 

Bocox and Kubo 1000m champions

American Brianna Bocox took her second title and her second personal best time of the weekend skating her 1000m in 1:15.537. Japanese Rio Yamada and American Mia Kilburg-Manganello finished second and third. Japanese Koki Kubo won the men’s 1000m edging out Canadian Laurent Dubreuil by 0.002 seconds. Korean Kim Jin Su got bronze.

Team pursuit goes to the United States and Canada

The United States added one more title to their great weekend by winning the ladies’ team pursuit in front of Canada and China. In the men’s pursuit, team Canada got gold in front of team Korea and team Kazakhstan.
