Bart Swings and Sandrine Tas, both from Powerslide, won the overall rankings over a big number of world champions at the 2018 edition of the Arena Geisingen international.

A successful entry for Swings
The Belgian Bart Swings, who was racing in his first inline competition of the season after winning a medal on the ice in Pyeongchang, was consistent this weekend and left Geisingen with the overall victory. His best performance was a third place in the elimination race.

De souza was close from victory
Elton de Souza from France was really close to win the overall classification. An unfortunate fall in the elimination race took him out of contending for the title. Even if it’s a little deception for him not to win the overall ranking, de Souza raced to an awesome first position in the 200m Dobbin sprint and a third place in the 500m. “Second with a fall, that could’ve been worst” said the French skater after the competition. Elton could get some great results in the next competitions and you should definitely keep an eye on him.

Sandrine Tas was near perfect
Sandrine Tas from Belgium won a second European cup in a row as she won 3 of the 4 distances this weekend. She won the 200m Dobbin sprint, the 500m, the points race and finished second in the elimination race.

Mendoza, the only strong opposition for Tas
Daniela Mendoza from Colombia who’s representing Cado Motus had good results this weekend and finished second overall. She was the only skater who was able to beat Sandrine Tas in a race as she finished ahead of her in the elimination race on the last day of racing.

Saul Herreno and Daniel Niero are in good form
Colombian Saul Herreno and Italian Daniel Niero showed good things in the long distances as they respectively won the points race and the elimination race. Herreno raced an awesome points race as he was in the breakaway for the majority of the race and was able to get 21 points. Niero executed a fast sprint in the last lap of the elimination race to win it. Diogo Marreiros, Gary Hekman and Luc ter Haar did a great job to help their Italian teammate keep a good position in the pack. Make sure to look out for them in the next few competitions.

The majority of these skaters will be racing at the Gross-Gerau Kriterium next weekend for the fourth European cup of the season.
