Quatre records de piste pour conclure la saison à Heerenveen

La saison 2019-2020 de patinage de vitesse longue piste s'est achevée aujourd'hui à Heerenveen, aux Pays-Bas.

Les derniers 1500m, 500m et départs en groupe de la saison ont été courus lors de cette deuxième journée de course à la Coupe du monde #6.

Deux records de piste sur 1500m

La vedette néerlandaise Ireen Wüst a remporté le 1500m féminin avec un record de piste de 1:53.101. La Japonaise Miho Takagi et la Néerlandaise Melissa Wijfje ont terminé en deuxième et troisième position. Cette médaille d’or a facilement confirmé la victoire de Wüst au classement général de la coupe du monde sur la distance.

Au 1500 m masculin, c'est Kjeld Nuis qui a remporté l'or devant ses coéquipiers Thomas Krol et Patrick Roest qui ont respectivement pris l'argent et le bronze. Nuis a réalisé un record de piste de 1:43.00 pour remporter l'épreuve ainsi que le classement cumulatif de la Coupe du monde sur 1500m. 

Deux records de piste de plus sur 500m

La Russe Angelina Golikova a remporté le dernier 500m de la saison en patinant un record de piste de 37,023. La Japonaise Nao Kodaira, qui a quand même remporté le classement général de la saison sur 500m, a dû se contenter de la deuxième position lors de la course d’aujourd'hui. L'Autrichienne Vanessa Herzog a pris la troisième place. 

Pour une deuxième journée consécutive, le Japonais Tatsuya Shinhama a remporté le 500m masculin. Cette fois, il a réalisé un record de piste de 34,067. Le Canadien Laurent Dubreuil, qui a connu une saison 2019-2020 incroyable, a terminé deuxième aujourd’hui. Il s'agissait de la troisième médaille d'argent de Dubreuil de la fin de semaine. Il a également patiné en dessous du précédent record de piste avant de se faire devancé par Shinhama. Le Japonais Yamato Matsui a remporté le bronze. Shinhama est le vainqueur de la Coupe du monde 2019-2020 sur la distance.

Wijfje et Chung remportent le départ en groupe

La Néerlandaise Melissa Wijfje et la Biélorusse Marina Zueva se sont échappées ensemble pendant la majeure partie de la course et le peloton n'a jamais réussi à revenir sur elles. Wijfje a remporté la course, Zueva a pris l’argent et la Néerlandaise Irene Schouten a remporté le sprint de peloton pour décrocher le bronze. 

Le Coréen Jaewon Chung a remporté le départ en groupe masculin au sprint final devant Bart Swings et Joey Mantia. C’est Swings qui a remporté le classement cumulatif sur la distance au terme de la saison.

Four track records to end the season in Heerenveen

The 2019-2020 long track speed skating season came to an end today in Heerenveen, the Netherlands.

The last 1500m, 500m and mass starts of the season were raced today in Heerenveen during the second day of racing at World Cup #6.

Track records to win the 1500m

Dutch superstar Ireen Wüst won the ladies’ 1500m race in Thialf establishing a track record of 1:53.101. Japanese Miho Takagi and Dutch Melissa Wijfje finished second and third. This win easily confirmed Wüst’s overall world cup classification victory on the distance.

In the men’s 1500m, Kjeld Nuis took gold in front of his teammates Thomas Krol and Patrick Roest who respectively took silver and bronze. He skated a track record of 1:43.00 to win the event. Nuis is the 1500m World Cup ranking champion. 

Two more track records on 500m

Angelina Golikova from Russia won the last 500m of the season skating a track record of 37.023. Japanese Nao Kodaira still won the 500m overall classification finishing second in today’s race while Austrian Vanessa Herzog took third place. 

For a second consecutive day, Japanese Tatsuya Shinhama won the men’s 500m. This time, he skated a track record of 34.067. Canadian Laurent Dubreuil who had an incredible 2019-2020 season finished second as he also skated below the previous track record. It was Dubreuil's third silver medal of the weekend. Japanese Yamato Matsui took bronze. Shinhama is the 2019-2020 World Cup winner on the distance.

Mass start

Dutch Melissa Wijfje and Belarusian Marina Zueva were in a breakaway together for most of the race and the pack never managed to comeback on them. Wijfje won the race, Zueva finished second and Dutch Irene Schouten won the pack sprint to win bronze. 

Korean Jaewon Chung won the men's mass start ahead of Bart Swings and Joey Mantia. Swings is the overall World Cup winner.

Nao Kodaira and Pavel Kulizhnikov crowned world sprint champions

Nao Kodaira and Pavel Kulizhnikov were crowned 2019 world sprint champions today at the end of the second day of racing in Heerenveen.

On the last day of racing in the Mecca of long track speed skating, Nao Kodaira and Pavel Kulizhnikov kept their lead in the overall ranking to claim the world sprint champion titles.

A second world sprint champion title for Kodaira

Just like yesterday, Japanese skater Nao Kodaira started her day with a win on 500m. She added a third place on 1000m to confirm her overall ranking victory and her second world sprint champion title in career. Finishing just behind Kodaira in the ranking was her teammate Miho Takagi who won today’s 1000m and finished fourth on 500m. Brittany Bowe from the United States finished second two times today and completed the overall podium.

Kulizhnikov stays on top, Shinhama Climbs to second place

Russian Pavel Kulizhnikov kept his lead to claim the world sprint title. On day 2, he won the 500m and finished second on 1000m. Japanese Tatsuya Shinhama who was fourth after day 1 climbed to second place overall with his performances of the day. He finished second on 500m and fifth on 1000m. Kjeld Nuis won his second 1000m of the weekend to protect his bronze medal position in the overall ranking.
