The 2017-2018 season will not be the last one for 31 years old Sven Kramer as he will skate for at least two more seasons on the World cup circuit. After his disapointing result on 10 000m in Pyeongchang, Kramer said that he is not closing the door on participating at the 2022 Beijing games.
The missing piece of the puzzle
Kramer as to live with the feeling of unfinished business as he was defeated once again in his favourite distance, the 10 000m, at the Olympics in Pyeongchang. After an error from his coach cost him the title in 2010, his second place finish in 2014 and his below expectations 6th position of 2018, he still doesn't have an olympic title in the distance he has won so many times on the World cup circuit throughout his career.

The door isn’t closed
Kramer said that he hasn’t dismissed the possibility of competing at the Beijing Olympic games in 2022 but he is not preparing for it at the moment. Kramer wants to take it one season at a time and his body and soul are the only things that will decide when it will be time for him to stop. He admitted that Pyeongchang has been hard mentally for him but he’s really proud of his third 5000m olympic title.
Will Sven compete at the 2022 Olympic games at the age of 35? Should he retired?
