The organizing committee of the 24H Roller Montreal had some bad news to share with the inline speed skating community this week.
“Good day to all 24hrs Roller Montreal participants and enthusiasts,
The organisation committee regretfully announces that the 2018 edition of the event unfortunately has to be cancelled. This heartbreaking decision was taken because it is not possible to hold the event at the Parc Jean-Drapeau du to important renovations to the Grand-Prix garages and that other locations that could have served as track and lodging does not correspond to our budgetary reality.
We however would like to inform you that as soon as the renovations will be completed in April 2019, the organisation committee is already very motivated to offer you an extraordinary event in 2019 and we hope that you will be there. Until then, keep on skating and build your teams for the 24hrs Montreal 2019, we look forward to seeing you there!”
Repair work on the circuit was also responsible for a change of date in 2017 that made the event much smaller than the previous years, but there is no doubt Simon Clément and his team will bring the event back to its own self next season. Flagship event of the inline speed skating scene in Canada, the 24H Roller Montreal is a necessity to develop the sport in this country that counts adepts such as Olivier Jean, Valérie Maltais and David Larue, all known on the international scene for their results in short and long track speed skating.
