During his career, Ahn was crowned overall short track speed skating world champion 6 times and Olympic champion 6 times. He also collected more than 100 medals on the World cup circuit.
The South Korean joined the Russian national team for the 2014 Sochi olympic games where he climbed on the podium on every distances.
Ahn leaves a huge technical and tactical heritage to short track speed skating and he's probably the best skater of his generation. The doping suspicions he faced before Pyeongchang surely cast a shadow on his amazing career but most short track fans will tell you he's the most influential skater to ever compete in the sport.
