The four best male and female skaters in the final overall ranking would qualify for the World junior championships to be held in Montreal in January. The 500m, 1000m and 1500m distances were all raced once during the weekend.

Biney and Stoddard to lead the ladies' team
The ladies' team that will race in Montréal next month will be composed of rising speed skating stars Maame Biney, Corinne Stoddard, Hailey Choi and Julie Letai. Biney won the championships with 2800 points winning the 500m and the 1500m and finishing second on 1000m. Corinne Stoddard won the 1000m and finished just behind Biney in the two other distances. This performance gave her 2600 points and the second place in the overall ranking. Hailey Choi got two bronze medals and finished third while Julie Letai got bronze one time to get the fourth spot on the team.

Brandon Kim perfect in the men's competition
Fairfax, Virginia's skater Brandon Kim won all three distances to collect 3000 points and the title of American junior champion. Albert Zhong, Caleb Park and Andrew Kim will join him on the junior team. Zhong was Kim's biggest rival as he finished second on 500m and third on 1000m.

We will have the chance to see these skaters race in Montreal at the World junior championships from the 25th to the 27th of January.
