WIC 1: World champion Rijhnen wins the first marathon of the season


Felix Rijhnen and Katharina Rumpus won the first World Inline Cup marathon of the season that was held in Oropesa del Mar, Spain.

Big names of the sport like Elton de Souza, Patxi Peula, Ewen Fernandez, Felix Rijhnen, Katharina Rumpus, Marine Lefeuvre and many others were on the start line of this first 2019 World Inline Cup (WIC) event of the season.

World champion Rijhnen triumphs
Reigning world marathon champion Felix Rijhnen started his season with a big win in Spain. The German skating for Powerslide was in a strong three man breakaway with Frenchman Ewen Fernandez and Spanish skater Patxi Peula. The pack never came back on them and they fighted for the victory in the sprint. Fernandez finished second while Peula took the third place.


Rumpus wins it in the ladies’ race
German Katharina Rumpus who’s been one of the best marathon skaters in the world for the past few years, won the ladies’ marathon. The 2016, 2017 and 2018 World Inline Cup overall ranking winner started her season taking the lead in the WIC classification. Colombian Aura Quintana and French Chloé Geoffroy completed the podium.

The next World Inline Cup leg will be held in Dijon, France the 12th of May.
