Vanessa Herzog and Sven Kramer took the two last European champion titles up for grab on the last day of the 2019 European speed skating championships in Collalbo, Italy.

On day 3, the European sprint championships for the ladies ended with the 500m (2) and the 1000m (2) while the men's allround championships closed with the 1500m and the 10000m.
Herzog European sprint champion
Austria’s Vanessa Herzog confirmed her European sprint champion title with the win on 500m (2) and a third position in the 1000m (2) on the last day of racing in Collalbo. Russia’s Daria Kachanova won the 1000m (2) but it wasn’t enough to steal the title from Herzog. She had to settle for second place in the overall ranking. Olga fatkulina completed the top 3 of the overall sprint classification.
Sven Kramer European allround champion
On day 3, Sven Kramer won the 1500m and finished second on 10000m. A lot of people thought his back problems would prevent him to rule on 10000m but he proved them wrong. Even if his teammate Patrick Roest raced an awesome last lap in the 10000m to come back on him, Kramer had some lead thanks to the other distances and managed to stay ahead in the overall classification. It is Kramer’s 10th European allround champion title in career. Last year’s allround world champion Patrick Roest had a good weekend and finished second overall. Norwegian Sverre Lunde Pedersen finished third overall.
