Otto, Hofmann, Mende et Acosta au sommet à Gera

La sixième Coupe d’Europe de la saison se tenait le weekend dernier à Gera en Allemagne.

Avec les World Roller Games qui approchent, plusieurs équipes nationales tenaient leurs championnats nationaux ou des camps d’entraînement lors de cette fin de semaine. La Coupe d’Europe de Gera de cette année était donc majoritairement composée de patineurs allemands, mais certains athlètes de la République Tchèque, du Danemark et de la Colombie étaient tout de même de la partie.

Compétition toute allemande chez les dames

La compétition féminine était seulement composée de patineuses allemandes. Angelina Otto s’est démarquée en remportant le 1000m et en terminant 2e à deux reprises lors des courses à points et à élimination. Elle a également pris le 4e rang sur 300m. Josie Hofmann et Sabine Berg ont aussi eu une bonne fin de semaine de course. Hofmann a remporté le 300m et la course à élimination alors que Berg a pris le 2e rang au 300m et au 1000m.

Acosta et Mende au sommet chez les hommes

La compétition masculine a vu le Colombien Camilo Acosta remporter le 300m et le 1000m. Le patineur représentant l’Arena Geisingen a été le seul à s’emparer de deux victoires lors du weekend chez les seniors. L’Allemand Jan Martin Mende qui patine pour Powerslide a offert de bonnes performances remportant la course à élimination, terminant 2e sur 1000m et 3e sur 300m Le Danois Niclas Mastrup a quant à lui remporté la course à points en plus de collecter une 2e place et deux 5e positions.

La prochaine Coupe d’Europe de la saison se tiendra à Wörgl en Autriche du 30 mai au 2 juin.

With the World Roller Games approaching, many teams had their national championships or a training camp last weekend. Because of that, the Gera European cup was mostly composed of German skaters, but some from Denmark, Czech Republic and Colombia were also present.

An all German group in the ladies' competition

The ladies’ competition was all German and composed of almost only RSV Gera skaters. Angelina Otto stood out winning the 1000m and finished 2nd in both the points and elimination races. She also finished 4th on 300m. Josie Hofmann and Sabine Berg also had a good weekend on their home track. Hofmann won the 300m and the elimination race while Berg finished second on 300m and on 1000m.

Acosta and Mende on top in the men’s competition

The men’s competition saw Colombian Camilo Acosta representing team Arena Geisingen won both the 300m and the 1000m. He is the only skater who won two distances during the weekend in the senior category. German Jan Martin Mende from Powerslide had a good competition winning the elimination race, finishing 2nd on 1000m and 3rd on 300m. Danish Niclas Mastrup won the points race and collected a 2nd place and two 5th places.

The next European cup of the season will be held in Wörgl Austria from the 30th of May to the 2nd of June.

Marreiros dominates at home, another strong showing by Quintana

Portuguese Diogo Marreiros and Colombia's Aura Quintana won the second leg of the 2019 European cup held in Lagos, Portugal last weekend.

Even if the rain challenged the event's organizers, the skaters were still able to race on 500m, 1000m, 5000m and 5000m points race on the track as well as a marathon on the last day of racing.

Marreiros victorious at home

Portuguese skater Diogo Marreiros skating for Bont won the overall classification of the competition with his victory on 1000m and both 5000m races. He also finished second on 500m just behind Patxi Peula. Marreiros looked like he was in control of the competition held on his club’s track. Spain’s Patxi Peula and France’s Elton de Souza completed the overall top 3. Belgian Indra Médard and German Jan Martin Mende also had good results during the weekend to take the fourth and fifth overall positions. Honorable mention to Austrian Christian Kromoser who won the rainy marathon on the last day of racing.

Quintana edges out Halbout

If Diogo Marreiros dominated the men’s field, the ladies’ competition was tight until the end. It finally was Colombian Aura Quintana who ended at the top of the overall classification with 120, finishing only two points ahead of French skater Clémence Halbout who had 118. Quintana who was strong the previous week at the first leg of the Europa cup, won the two last distances of the competition which were the 1000m and the 5000m to beat Halbout. Belgium’s Nymphe Keuleers and Stien Vanhoutte took third and fourth place while France’s Marie Dupuy, who won the 500m, finished in fifth place of the ranking.

Great races in the juniors

The junior overall rankings were won by Sara Cabrera from Spain and Jason Suttels from Belgium. Suttels, Sabien Tinson, Nil Llop and Tomáš Bohumský had some crazy races in the men's junior category all weekend long and you should remember their names for the future.

The third competition of the Europa cup will be held in Geisingen, Germany on the 12-13-14 of April .

Flanders Grand Prix: Marreiros dominates in Oostende

Diogo Marreiros and Larissa Gaiser won the 2018 Flanders Grand Prix last weekend in Oostende.

The 2018 Flanders Grand Prix was the last European Cup of the season and the last chance to prepare for the European Championships that will be raced in a couple of days in Oostende.

Marreiros impressive

Portuguese skater Diogo Marreiros was really strong this weekend, winning the 1000m, the points race and the 30k road race. He also finished second behind Peter Michael in the elimination race. This great racing weekend for Marreiros turned into overall victory of the Flanders Grand Prix and the win in the long distances classification of the 2018 European Cup. Patxi Peula Cabello and Peter Michael finished second and third of the 2018 Flanders Grand Prix.

Four out of four for Sandrine Tas

Sandrine Tas won all the races she skated in. She won the 300m, 1000m, points race and elimination race. Since she didn’t took part in the 16k road race, she wasn’t eligible for the overall classification on the distance. We think it’s fair to say she is in good shape for the upcoming European Championships where she will be at home.

Larissa Gaiser was consistant

Germany's Larissa Gaiser was the best skater who participated in all the distances. She finished 4th on 1000m, 2nd in the points race, 3rd in the 16k road race and 2nd in the elimination race. A great performance by the young German skater who is at her first year in the senior category. Sabine Berg and Marie Dupuy completed the overall classification podium.

The next big inline speed skating event is the European Championships who will be raced in Oostende from the 17th to the 23rd of August.

Flanders Grand Prix: Last European cup event of the season

Some of the best skaters in Europe will compete in the last Europa Cup of the season this weekend in Ostende, Belgium.

With only one week to go until the 2018 European Championships that will be held in Ostende, the skaters will have the chance to test the track this weekend while fighting for the last points of the Europa cup classification.

The 2017 champions are back

2017 Flanders Grand Prix's winners Peter Michael and Sandrine Tas will be back this weekend to defend their titles from last year. They enter the weekend as strong favorites for the overall victory but we might have some surprises!

Interesting sprint competitions to come

We could see some pretty serious battles in the men’s sprint races between skaters like Simon Albrecht, Mathias Vosté, Ronald Mulder, Kay and Rick Schipper and other good sprinters. The two shorter distances of the weekend are the 300m time trial and the 1000m.

World Championships revelations will be in action

Young skaters like Tomas Bohumsky (youth), Jordy van Workum and Jason Suttels (juniors) who collected awesome results at this year's World championships will skate this weekend as a preparation for the European Championships. You should keep an eye on them, especially the Belgian Suttels who will be skating at home.

Holland cup: The clash of the titans

The fifth European cup of the season will be held this weekend in Heerde.

Some of the best skaters in the world will skate this weekend and it could give us a good idea on what will happen at the World championships that will be held in Heerde later this season.

Queen Lollobrigida makes her entry

The queen of inline speed skating and 2018 olympian Francesca Lollobrigida, will skate in her first competition of the season. The Italian, who's skating for Bont, won 5 european champion titles and 3 world champion titles last season. There will be other superstars to compete with her like the 10 times world champion and 2018 Gross Gerau Kriterium winner from Colombia Luz Karime Garzon, multiple world and European champion Sandrine Tas and the Trophée des 3 piste 2018 winner from France Clémence Halbout.

The skating titans will meet in Heerde

The confrontation between Bart Swings from Powerslide, Ewen Fernandez from Rollerblade, Daniel Niero from Bont, Nolan Beddiaf from EOskates and Peter Michael from Arma will be very exciting. With their solid teammates, these world champions will fight hard to win this competition. Look out for Julio Mirena from MPC who just won the Gross-Gerau Kriterium and will be ready to join the fight. Elton de Souza, who’s skating for MX takino MPC, could also get great results in his last european cup before flying back to France for the national championships.

Groß-Gerau 2018: Garzon and Mirena on top

The 40th edition of the Gross-Gerau Kriterium was held this weekend at the Gross-Gerau Skate-Park.

The skaters raced in a 300m time-trial, a 500m, a points race and an elimination race.

A feel-good victory for Luz Karime Garzon

Luz Karime Garzon from Bont skates, who didn’t manage to qualify for the Colombian National team a couple of weeks ago (learn more about the team HERE), was simply dominant in the long distances this weekend as she won the points race, the elimination race and the overall classification. This win will surely make her happy as she showed the world she could compete against first class skaters. Sandrine Tas and Daniela Mendoza finished second and third.

Consistency was the key for Julio Mirena

The overall ranking winner, Julio Mirena from MPC, didn’t win a distance but collected good results in all the events. He finished 2nd in the points race, 3rd in the 500m and 7th in the elimination race to finish in front of Ken Kuwada from Argentina and the defending champion Bart Swings!

A big victory for Gwendal le Pivert on 500m

Gwendal le Pivert from France raced an awesome 500m race. Even if he was third after the start, le Pivert was able to excute awesome moves to beat Ioseba Fernandez and Sebastian Guzman Bitar at the line. The Frenchman was very strong and you should keep an eye on him in upcoming competitions.

Ioseba Fernandez: the fastest man alive

This competition also allowed us to witness an incredible world record performance from Ioseba Fernandez who raced his 300m in 22.850 seconds. What a performance by the spanish skater representing Takino skates.

Some of these skaters will be racing next weekend in Heerde for the 5th European cup of the season.

Coupe d’Europe #2 - Sandrine Tas domine, Thiebault surprend

La Belge Sandrine Tas et le Français Valentin Thiebault l’ont emporté lors de la deuxième Coupe d’Europe de Roller qui s’est déroulée à Lagos ce weekend.

Les patineurs de Powerslide, Sandrine Tas et Valentin Thiebault, ont terminé au sommet du classement général de la seconde Coupe d’Europe de la saison qui a été, pour une deuxième semaine de suite, compliquée par la pluie.

Tas tout simplement trop forte

Sandrine Tas a été dominante en remportant 3 des 4 épreuves qui ont été coursées. Elle semblait sur une autre planète alors que très peu de patineuses sont parvenues à l’embêter. Au cumulatif, Sheila Posada termine 2e et Aura Quintana 3e. C’est une belle première compétition de la saison pour la Belge qui n’a pas fini de nous impressionner.

Première grande victoire chez les séniors pour Thiebault

La constance du jeune Valentin Thiebault a payé ce weekend. À sa première saison chez les séniors et chez Powerslide, le Français montre qu’il ne tardera pas à gravir les échelons du patinage sur roues. Il a débuté la compétition avec une fracassante victoire au 300m contre-la-montre, distance qui lui réussissait bien chez les juniors. Il a ajouté à cette victoire de bons résultats lors des 3 autres distances pour assurer sa victoire au cumulatif. Gwendal le Pivert et Diogo Marreiros ont complété le podium toutes distances.

Giovanni Trebouta surprend

Giovanni Trebouta, qui avait montré de belles choses au Trophée des 3 pistes le weekend dernier, a réalisé un véritable tour de force en s’emparant de la victoire à la course à points cette fin de semaine à Lagos. À l’image de Thiebault, Trebouta est également à ses premiers pas chez les séniors. L’avenir du patinage français est entre de bonnes mains.

Marreiros offre une belle performance à la maison

Le Portugais Diogo Marreiros a offert une belle prestation devant famille et amis ce weekend en terminant troisième au cumulatif. Il s’est emparé d’une belle troisième place à la course à points en plus de conclure la compétition en remportant la course de 25km de belle façon.
