Tough news for two American inline speed skaters

Even if they had two skaters qualified for the inline speed skating event at the Youth Olympic Games, the United States Olympic Comitee decided not to bring any speed skaters to the competition.

In order to respect the limit of 75 athletes by country at the Youth Olympic Games, the United States Olympic Comitee decided to use their allocated spots only for sports that are also presented at the regular summer Olympic games. It means that American inline speed skaters Sabien Tinson and Corinne Stoddard will not be able to compete at the Games in Buenos Aires. Inline speed skating is an official event of the Youth Olympic games for the first time.

Like we told you earlier this summer, Tinson and Stoddard successfully qualified for the Games. Both multi-medalists at the 2018 World Championships, they would’ve been fighting for medals in Buenos Aires. They aspire to continue the winning tradition started by American skaters such as Joey Mantia, Chad Hedrick, Brittany Bowe and others but sadly, they will not be able to do so at the Youth Olympic Games.

The Youth Olympic Games will be held in Buenos Aires from October 6 through October 18, 2018. The Inline Speed Skating competitions will be held on October 7 and 8, 2018.
