The third speed skating World Cup of the season ended today in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

The 1500m and team pursuit events were raced on the final day of World Cup #3 in Nur-Sultan. Canadian Ivanie Blondin added two more gold medals to her Kazakhstan medals collection.

Canadian Ivanie Blondin, who had already won the 5000m on the first day of racing, won the 1500m on day three with a new track record of 1:55.599. Dutch legend Ireen Wüst finished second while American Brittany Bowe finished third.
Chinese Zhongyang Ning won his first World Cup gold medal in career in the men’s 1500m. His time of 1:44.918, a new track record in Nur-Sultan, allowed him to beat Dutch powerhouses Patrick Roest, Kjeld Nuis and Thomas Krol who respectively finished second, third and fourth.

Blondin... again!
The Canadian team composed of Ivanie Blondin, Isabelle Weidemann and Valérie Maltais won the ladies’ team pursuit with their time of 3:00.246. It was Blondin’s third gold medal of the weekend in three distances at World Cup 3. The Netherlands and Russia completed the podium.
Italy won its first World Cup men’s team pursuit since 2005. Canada got silver and Russia bronze.
