Lima 2019: La Colombie brille à Lima

Les Jeux panaméricains 2019 ont pris fin avec des victoires colombiennes samedi à Lima.

Les meilleurs patineurs sur roues des Amériques ont pris part aux épreuves du 300m contre-la-montre, 500m et du 10 000m à élimination dans le cadre des Jeux panaméricains 2019 tenus à Lima. 

Moya et Causil champions du 300m contre-la-montre

La Chilienne Maria Moya Sepulveda a remporté le 300m contre-la-montre pour lancer les hostilités de ces Jeux grâce à son temps de 26.441. La Colombienne Geiny Pajaro a dû se contenter de la médaille d’argent, manquant le titre de championne par 0.186 secondes. La Guatémaltèque Dalia Soberanis a pris le bronze en enregistrant un temps de 26.800. 

Chez les hommes, la légende colombienne Pedro Causil a remporté le titre en 24.701. Le Vénézuélien Jhoan Guzman et le Mexicain Jorge Luis Martinez, respectivement 0.019 et 0.076 secondes derrière Causil, ont pris l’argent et le bronze.

Pajaro l’emporte sur 500m, un autre titre pour Causil

Après avoir pris la deuxième place au 300m, la Colombienne Geiny Pajaro s’est imposée au 500m. Dalia Soberanis du Guatemala la suivait de près et s’est emparée de sa deuxième médaille des Jeux avec l’argent sur la distance. La Mexicaine Veronica Elias a pris le bronze.

Le Colombien Pedro Causil a gagné son deuxième titre panaméricain en deux courses en remportant la grande finale du 500m devant le Mexicain Jorge Luis Martinez et le Vénézuélien Jhoan Guzman qui ont tous deux récolté leur deuxième médaille des Jeux.

Viveros et Cujavante terminent au sommet

Les épreuves de patinage de vitesse aux Jeux panaméricains se sont terminées avec la course à élimination de 10 000m. Les Colombiens terminent encore au sommet sur cette distance grâce aux belles victoires de Jhoana Viveros et Alex Cujavante. La Chilienne Javiera Pendavis et l’Américaine Kelsey Helman ont complété le podium féminin alors que ce sont Hugo Ramirez Boada du Chili et Jorge Bolanos de l’Équateur qui ont pris le deuxième et troisième rang chez les hommes.

Lima 2019: Colombia shines in Lima

The 2019 Pan American Games came to an end with Colombian victories on Saturday in Lima.

The best inline speed skaters in the Americas competed on 300m TT, 500m and the 10 000m elimination race in Lima during the 2019 Pan American games. 

Moya and Causil 300m TT champions

Chilean skater Maria Moya Sepulveda won the 300m Time-Trial with a time of 26.441. Missing the Pan American title by 0.186 seconds was Colombian Geiny Pajaro who’s the reigning 200m TT world champion. Guatemala’s Dalia Soberanis took a bronze medal for her country recording a time of 26.800 seconds.

In the men’s competition, Colombian skating legend Pedro Causil won the Pan American champion title in 24.701. Venezuelan Jhoan Guzman and Jorge Luis Martinez, who were respectively 0.019 and 0.076 slower than him, got silver and bronze.

Pajaro wins it on 500m, another one for Causil

After finishing second on 300m, Geiny Pajaro from Colombia won the 500m title. She was closely followed by Dalia Soberanis from Guatemala who got her second medal of the Games. Veronica Elias from Mexico took the bronze medal. 

Colombian Pedro Causil made it two Pan American titles out of two races winning the 500m final in front of Mexican Jorge Luis Martinez and Venezuelan Jhoan Guzman who were both also medalists in the 300m. 

Viveros and Cujavante ends the Games at the top

The speed skating events of the Pan American games ended with a longer distance, the 10 000m elimination race. Colombian were once again at the top with strong wins by world champions Jhoana Viveros and Alex Cujavante. Chilean Javiera Pendavis and American Kelsey Helman completed the ladies’ podium while it was Hugo Ramirez Boada from Chile and Jorge Bolanos from Ecuador who finished second and third in the men’s race.

Lima 2019: Battle of the Americas

The best inline speed skaters from all over the Americas are ready to battle in Lima, Peru for the 2019 Pan American games.

The inline speed skating events at the Pan American games while be held on the 9th and 10th of August and the winners will receive some of the last medals awarded at this multisport event. If the United States currently are and will remain at the top of the overall classification of these Pan American games, countries such as Colombia and Argentina, who are presently in fifth and sixth place, might collect their share of medals during the three speed skating events. On Friday the 9th, the skaters will race in the 300m TT event before competing in the 500m+d and the 10000m elimination race on the 10th.

A look back at the track portion of the Inline Pan Am Championships

The best skaters in North, South and Central America were in Monterrey, Mexico for the Pan American Championships last weekend.

In this competition, skaters were trying to qualify spots for their country in view of next year’s Pan American games to be held in Lima, Peru. Skaters from Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, the United States and many more were competing. Canadian Marco Frusteri and Maxime St-Jules who took part in this year’s World Championships were also present at these championships.

Chilean skaters stood out in the men’s sprint distances

Chile’s skaters Emanuelle Silva and Ricardo verdugo were respectively crowned Pan American champion in the 200m TT and the 500m. Adding to his victory in the 500m, Verdugo finished third in the 200m. Other medalists in the sprint distances were Sebastian Guzman, Andres Munoz and Justin Stelly.

Escobar two times medalist in the ladies’ short distances

Colombia’s Yesenia Escobar got two individual silver medals in the track races finishing second in both the 200m and the 500m. Impressive Guatemala’s skater Dalia Soberanis won the 200m TT while Kerstinck Sarmiento from Colombia won the 500m.

Jimenez and Arnedo 1000m champions
Colombian Andres Mauricio Jimenez and Elizabeth Arnedo won the 1000m distance. In the men’s competition, Sebastian Guzman and Santiago Roumec completed the podium while in the ladies' 1000m it was Romina Perez and Kerstinck Sarmiento.

Zapata and Bolanos long distances champions

Colombian Daniel Zapata took the win in the points / elimination race and also took the bronze medal in the elimination race. Ecuador’s Jorge Bolanos won the elimination race and finished second in the points / elimination race. Colombian Carlos Franco and Argentina’s Santiago Roumec both collected a medal.

In the ladies’ longer distances, both podium were all Colombian. Johana Viveros won the points / elimination race in front of her teammates Luz Karime Garzon and Daniela Mendoza. In the elimination race, it was Garzon’s time to be crowned Pan American champion. She was followed by Youth olympic games champion Gabriela Rueda Rueda and Viveros.

Colombia won both relays

Without any surprise, Colombia won both the men’s and the women’s relay. On the men’s side, Mexico took second place and Argentina took third. Chile finished second in the ladies' relay while Mexico took the bronze. It was some pretty surprising results by the Mexicans considering they didn’t manage to access the individual podiums of these track championships.

Exciting inline competitions at the Juegos Suramericanos

The best inline speed skaters in South America were competing at the Juegos Suramericanos Cochabamba 2018 last weekend.

Skaters from ten countries including Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela and Ecuador were competing last weekend in Cochabamba at the South American games wich is a multisports competition that is held every four years.

Guzman, Cujavante and Arias Perez shined

Johan Sebastian Guzman from Venezuela, Alex Cujavante Luna from Colombia and Fabriana Arias Perez also from Colombia managed to win two gold medals each at these games. Guzman won in the 300m and the 500m as the two Colombian skaters won the long distance races.

Argentina showed what they’re made of

Even if they had to fight with the dominant Colombian forces, Argentina’s skaters were able to collect good results at these games. The biggest highlight for them was clearly Rocio Berbel’s victory in the 1000m. Berbel also added to her collection a bronze medal in the 10 000m points race on the last day of racing. Juan Cruz Araldi (silver 1000m), Santiago Roumec (silver 10 000m elimination) and Ken Kuwada (bronze 10 000m elimination, silver 10 000m points) were also in good form an showed great things!

From Olympian to South-american champion

Colombian Pedro Causil, who competed at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic games with blades on his feet, offered awesome performances on inline skates this weekend at the South American games. The skater, who returned to the Colombian selection this year, was crowned South American champion on 1000m and added a second place in the 300m to this title.

L’équipe colombienne sera dangereuse en 2018

La plus grande nation de patinage sur roues a tenu ses sélections nationales 2018 la semaine dernière à Cucuta.

C’est une équipe colombienne familière comportant un nombre impressionnant de champions du monde qui se rendra aux Championnats mondiaux à Heerde aux Pays-Bas plus tard cette année.

Arias et Escobar à l’avant plan chez les dames

Fabriana Arias Perez, déjà 13 fois championne du monde et 3 fois championne des World games, mènera l’équipe colombienne féminine en ce qui a trait aux longues distances. Elle aura notamment comme coéquipière d’autres patineuses d’expérience comme Johanna Viveros et Maria Camila Guerra. Du côté sprint, Yesenia Escobar Ramirez, championne du monde au 100m et au tour l’année dernière sera la principale tête d’affiche. Nous retrouverons aussi dans cette équipe la championne du monde 2017 Andrea Canon ainsi que d'autres grandes pointures comme Geiny Pajaro et Kerstinck Sarmiento.

Une équipe masculine expérimentée

Le multiple champion du monde et spécialiste des longues distances Alex Cujavante fera, encore une fois cette année, partie de la prestigieuse équipe colombienne. Aux Championnats du monde tenus à Nanjing en 2017 il avait été sacré champion au 15000m à élimination. Hamilton Patino, qui fait partie de l’équipe Powerslide et qui a obtenu d’excellents résultats en Coupe d’Europe l’an passée, fera aussi partie de cette redoutable équipe. S’ajoutent à ces deux solides patineurs les sprinteurs Jaime Uribe et Edwin Estrada, le multiple champion du monde chez les juniors Manuel Saavedra et l’olympien sur glace en patinage de vitesse longue piste en 2018 et mainte fois champion du monde sur roues Pedro Causil. Sans oublier le légendaire Andres Felipe Munoz, qui est déjà champion du monde à 27 reprises et qui tentera d’ajouter quelques titres à sa collection cette année.

L’équipe colombienne sera encore à surveiller cette saison! Vous verrez ces athlètes en action aux Championnats du monde à Heerde du 1er au 7 juillet.

Team Colombia will be dangerous in 2018

The biggest inline speed skating nation in the world had their national selections last weekend in Cucuta, Colombia.

It’s a familiar Colombian team with a lot of world champions that will race in Heerde for the 2018 World championships later this season.

Arias and Escobar will lead the women's team

Fabriana Arias Perez, who’s already been crowned world champion 13 times and World games champion 3 times, will lead the Colombian squad in the long distances. She will have experimented skaters to help her like Johanna Viveros and Maria Camila Guerra. Yesenia Escobar Ramirez will lead the team in the sprint distances and will be joined by other stars of the sport like Andrea Canon, Geiny Pajaro and Kerstinck Sarmiento.

An experimented men’s team

The seven-time world champion Alex Cujavante will be part of the team again this season. At the 2017 World championships that were held in Nanjing, he was crowned world champion on the 15 000m elimination track race. Hamilton Patino, who’s part of team Powerslide, had awesome results in the European cup last season and will represent his country in 2018. You can add to the team Jaime Uribe and Edwin Estrada who are two dangerous sprinters, the multiple times junior world champion Manuel Saavedra and the Pyeongchang 2018 olympian Pedro Causil. Finally, Andres Felipe Munoz who has already 27 world titles under his belt will try to add more to his collection in 2018.

As always, the Colombian team will be one of the best and you will have the chance to see them race at the World Championships from July 1st to 7th.
