Speed skating world cup #3 ended today in Stavanger as the fastest skaters in the world competed in the ladies 5000m or the mens 10000m and in the team sprint.

Claudia Pechstein from Germany was the fastest lady in the 5000m distance. She skated a fast time of 6:56.60 to beat Canadian star Ivanie Blondin and multiple world champion Martina Sablikova. Sven Kramer and Ted-Jan Bloemen had a rendez-vous in the last pair in the 10000m. Kramer was the fastest and finished almost two seconds before Bloemen. The Dutch Erik-Jan Kooiman completed the podium.

The team sprint event closed the weekend of competition. Canadian team composed of Vincent de Haître, Alex Boisvert-Lacroix and Gilmore Junio were the fastest in the mens competition. The trio skated the new world record on the distance! A strong Norwegian team and USA’s trio completed the podium. The ladies' team sprint was won by Korea. Norwegians and Canadians finished second and third.
The next long track World cup will be held in Calgary from December 1st to the 3rd.
