Rijhnen and Tas 2019 Berlin marathon winners

The best inline skaters in the world on the marathon distance were in Berlin yesterday to race the 2019 Berlin marathon.

Rain added a challenge to this 2019 edition of the Berlin inline skating marathon. As always, the 42k race was the last chance to gain points for the World Inline Cup ranking and skaters from all around the World were there to compete.

Beddiaf animated the race, Rijhnen won it

No one managed to escape the pack due to the tough weather conditions. Reigning world champion Nolan Beddiaf tried everything to grab the title and led more than half of the race establishing a fast pace. With the Frenchman’s pace, the massive peloton shrinked to a 10 men group. The victory was played in the sprint and it was Germany's great Félix Rijhnen who won it. Beddiaf took second place and Elton de Souza third. After six consecutive years of victories from Bart Swings, it was his Powerslide teammate and friend Felix Rijhnen who dethroned him. Swings, who was coming back from an ice speed skating training camp was still amongst the best skaters in Berlin finishing in the leader's group.

Tas women’s winner

Belgian Sandrine Tas, who once again had a solid season, ended it with the win in Berlin. Just like the men’s race, the women’s marathon winner was also decided with a sprint to the line. Tas was the most explosive skater and crossed the line first finishing just ahead of her Powerslide teammate Germany's Katharina Rumpus and Taiwanese skater Yi-Hsuan Liu.

Rijhnen et Tas gagnants du Marathon de Berlin 2019

Les meilleurs patineurs de marathon au monde ont pris part au marathon roller de Berlin hier.

La pluie est venue ajouter un défi supplémentaire aux patineurs présents lors de ce marathon de Berlin 2019. Comme à l’habitude, cette course de 42km faisait office de finale de la Coupe du monde des marathons et représentait la dernière chance d’amasser des points pour le classement cumulatif.

Beddiaf anime la course, mais Rijhnen l’emporte

Personne n’a réussi à s’échapper du peloton de façon convaincante dû aux conditions météorologiques difficiles. Le champion du monde en titre du marathon Nolan Beddiaf a tout essayé pour remporter le marathon. Le Français a mené le peloton à un rythme d’enfer pour plus de la moitié de la course faisant s’effriter le peloton massif jusqu'à ce qu'il ne reste qu'un groupe sélect d’une dizaine de patineurs à l'avant. La victoire s’est jouée au sprint et c’est le grand Allemand Félix Rijhnen qui l’a emporté juste devant Beddiaf et Elton de Souza. Après six ans de victoires signées Bart Swings, c’est son coéquipier de Powerslide Rijhnen qui l’a détrôné comme roi de Berlin. Swings, qui revenait d’un camp d’entraînement sur glace, était tout de même dans le coup lors du marathon et a terminé dans le même groupe que les gagnants. 

Tas gagnante féminine

La Belge Sandrine Tas, qui a encore une fois eu une belle saison, l’a terminé avec une victoire au convoité marathon de Berlin. À l’image de la course des hommes, la victoire au marathon féminin a aussi été disputée au sprint. Tas a été la plus explosive et a devancé de peu sa coéquipière Allemande dans l’équipe Powerslide Katharina Rumpus et la Taïwanaise Yi-Hsuan Liu.

WIC 2: Solo victory for Timothy Loubineaud in Dijon

French skater Timothy Loubineaud, representing Powerslide, won the second leg of the 2019 World Inline Cup today in Dijon.

Timothy Loubineaud skating for Powerslide won the 2019 Dijon marathon, the second leg of the 2019 World Inline Cup. The French Skater escaped the pack with 25km left in the race to claim his first major marathon victory in the senior category. He crossed the finish line in 1:03:59. The pack composed of skaters such as Ewen Fernandez, Nolan Beddiaf, Elton de Souza, Bart Swings and Felix Rijhnen never came back on him and fought for the second place at the sprint. Loubineaud’s teammate Bart Swings was the most explosive in the last straight line and took the second place finishing just ahead of Nolan Beddiaf from EO SKATES.

The ladies’ race was won in the final sprint and ended with a French trio at the top. Clémence Halbout from Bont won it in front of Marie Dupuy from EO SKATES and Juliette Pouydebat from Castellon Roller marathon. They completed the marathon with a time of 1:16:36 in this tough race competed in windy weather condition and some challenging climbs.

The next World Inline Cup marathon will take place the 26th of May in Rennes, France.

WIC 2: Victoire en solitaire pour Timothy Loubineaud à Dijon

Le Français Timothy Loubineaud de l’équipe Powerslide a remporté la deuxième étape de la Coupe du monde des marathons tenue aujourd’hui à Dijon.

Timothy Loubineaud s’est imposé lors du marathon de Dijon 2019 qui faisait office de deuxième étape de la Coupe du monde des marathons de la saison. Le Français s’est échappé en solitaire avec 25 km à faire dans cette course de 42 km. Le peloton notamment composé d’Ewen Fernandez, Nolan Beddiaf, Elton de Souza, Bart Swings et Felix Rijhnen n’est jamais parvenu à revenir sur Loubineaud, qui a par le fait même signé sa première victoire majeure en carrière lors d’un marathon. Loubineaud a enregistré un temps de 1:03:59. Deux minutes et demi plus tard, au sprint du peloton, Bart Swings, un des coéquipiers de Loubineaud, s’est emparé de la deuxième position en étant le plus explosif alors que Nolan Beddiaf d’EO SKATES a complété le podium tout juste derrière Swings.

Chez les femmes, la course s’est décidée au sprint final. Nous avons eu droit à un triplé de patineuses françaises alors que Clémence Halbout de chez Bont l’a emporté devant Marie Dupuy d’EO SKATES et Juliette Pouydebat de Castellon Roller marathon qui ont respectivement pris le deuxième et troisième rang. La course des femmes s’est soldée en 1:16:36 lors de ce marathon venteux et agrémenté de quelques montées ardues. 

Le prochain marathon de la Coupe du monde se déroulera le 26 mai à Rennes.

A new leg for the World Inline Cup in 2018

The World Inline Cup will have a new event in 2018 with a new marathon in Spain.

The marathon will be raced on march 17th in Oropesa del Mar, Spain and will start the 2018 World Inline Cup season. The athletes will have the chance to begin their season faster with an early international marathon in a country were the outdoor sport are practiced all year long.

‘’Skaters of our new WIC marathon will experience a great and challenging course near the beaches with stunning vistas.’’ said Petr Stastny the World Inline Cup president.

Last year’s winners of the overall World Inline Cup classification were Patxi Peula and Katharina Rumpus. How will they do next season?

Une nouvelle manche pour la World Inline Cup en 2018

La Coupe du monde des marathons roller aura une nouvelle épreuve la saison prochaine avec un nouveau marathon en sol espagnol.

Le marathon se déroulera le 17 mars à Oropesa del Mar en Espagne et ouvrira la saison 2018 de la World Inline Cup. Les athlètes auront la chance de débuter leur saison plus tôt avec ce marathon dans un pays où la pratique de sports extérieurs se fait à l’année longue.

«Les patineurs de notre nouveau marathon WIC vont expérimenter un parcours difficile longeant la plage et des superbes vues» explique Petr Stastny le président de la World Inline Cup.

Rappelons-nous que l’an passée c’est Patxi Peula Cabello et Katharina Rumpus qui avaient remporté le classement cumulatif de la Coupe du monde.

Five in a row for Bart Swings

The best inline speed skaters in the world where on the starting line of the 44th Berlin Marathon.

Bart Swings, from Belgium wins the prestigious marathon for the fifth time in his incredible career. He was on the attack with Patxi Peula Cabello from Spain. Peula finished second and Felix Rijhnen who had an awesome year claimed the bronze medal. 

Maira Arias passed the finish line in first position in the women's race with a new world record of 1:06,35. Rocio Bercel and Sandrine Tas finished second and third.

Et de 5 pour Bart Swings

La crème du patinage de vitesse sur roues était présente sur la ligne départ de la 44e édition du Marathon roller de Berlin.

Le Belge Bart Swings ajoute à son incroyable carrière en remportant l'épreuve pour une 5e fois en 5 ans après s'être échappé avec l'Espagnol Patxi Peula Cabello, lui aussi un habitué du podium à Berlin. Peula termine deuxième et Felix Rijhnen, qui a eu une saison remarquable, remporte la médaille de bronze. 

Maira Arias franchi la ligne d'arrivée en première position avec un temps de 1:06,35, un nouveau record du monde. Elle est suivi de près par Rocio Berbel. Sandrine Tas remporte le sprint de peloton pour prendre la 3e position.

Finale de la World Inline Cup très attendue

La Coupe du monde des marathons se conclura ce samedi au spectaculaire Marathon de Berlin, où les derniers points du classement général seront en jeu.

Jakob Ulreich est en tête chez les hommes. Fort de ses performances lors des marathons d’Incheon, d’Ostrava et de Harbin, il trône sur le classement général. Le Vénézuélien Alexander Bastidas est au deuxième rang, suivi par le Français Ewen Fernandez.

Notons que certains patineurs plus loin au classement sont de véritables prétendants à la victoire cette fin de semaine. Patxi Peula, récemment médaillé au championnat du monde et vainqueur de l’épreuve d’Harbin, sera à surveiller. Le gagnant des quatre dernières éditions et détenteur du record du monde, Bart Swings, est l’un des favoris pour l’arrivée à Berlin. D’autres patineurs comme Felix Rijhnen, Elton de Souza, Guillaume de Mallevoue  et Yann Guyader seront également des animateurs de la course.

Chez les femmes, c’est l’Allemande Katharina Rumpus qui mène le classement de la Coupe du monde. Elle a été dominante tout au long de la saison avec des podiums à chaque participation, dont deux victoires. Il sera très difficile de la détrôner, puisque peu de patineuses ont participé à plusieurs manches de la Coupe du monde. Quelques femmes pourront tout de même convoiter la victoire de ce prestigieux marathon.

Powerslide dominates in Dijon

Bart Swings and Ewen Fernandez from Powerslide dominated the men's race at the third event of the World Inline Cup. Chloé Geoffroy from Powerslide Ligne Droite surprised everyone with a big sprint victory.

Some big names were on the start line of this marathon. Yann Guyader, Guillaume de Mallevoue and Quentin Giraudeau from Rollerblade, Martin Ferrie from EOSkates and the Powerslide skaters Bart Swings, Ewen Fernandez and Peter Michael.

A strong start in the men's marathon

Peter Michael from New Zealand started the race with a fast pace but the pack came back on him. Ewen Fernandez got out of the pack with an explosive attack. Bart Swings catched up on his french teammate and they sticked together for the entire race. 

Swings and Fernandez dominated the whole race and lapped the pack twice. They broke the event record with a time of 58:19. The french Martin Ferrie, solo skater from EOSkates completed the podium.

The sprint decided the women's race

Flavie Balandras did some strong attacks in the beginning of the race but she was not able to get rid of the pack. Chloé Geoffroy representing Powerslide Ligne Droite surprised the pack in the last line and was the first woman to finish the race. Katharina Rumpus from Germany finished second and will keep her first place in the World Inline Cup ranking. 

The next stage of the World Inline Cup will be held in Ostrava, Czech Republic but some of the best skaters will not be there because they are preparing for the European Championships and the World Games.
