Retirement is now official for Marianne St-Gelais


Even though it has been known for months that Marianne St-Gelais was going to end her career after the 2017-2018 season, she officially announced her retirement yesterday.

Her career may have not ended the way she would’ve liked, but her performances of the last decade should totally make you forget the difficulties of her last season. An impressive collection of medals for an amazing athlete.


*She skated on the world cup circuit for the first time in 2006-07
*She won her first world cup medal in 2009
*Based on Speed skating Canada's website, St-Gelais won 93 world cup medals including 23 gold medals.
*She won 15 medals at world championships including a gold on 1500m in 2016 and she is the 2017 overall world vice champion.
She is a three time olympian and won three olympic medals. Two of those were won during the Vancouver Olympic games in 2010.
