A public training session and an autographs session with the short track national team were on schedule last Saturday at Canada’s temporary training site in Laval,Qc. Fans of all ages took a few hours of a beautiful sunny day to gather at Place Bell to see their favorite skaters or get acquainted with the next generation of athletes who will battle next season for their spot on the World cup team. With veteran skaters Marianne St-Gelais and François Hamelin both announcing their retirement earlier this spring, some younger skaters will have a great opportunity to join the top team next season. Both the women's and men’s team were on the ice at the same time, something that is rather rare in Canada.

During the autograph session, Kasandra Bradette, Samuel Girard, Charles Hamelin, Kim Boutin, Charle Cournoyer and Pascal Dion were all smiles and happy to meet the crowd, sign memorabilia, hats and t-shirts and get their picture taken with everyone who wanted to. Fans were even lucky enough to see Kim Boutin’s olympic medals won last February in Pyeongchang.

Here’s a video of the event.
