The men's 1500m was in the spotlight on the fourth day of long track competition in Beijing. American Joey Mantia, China's Zhongyan Ning, Canada's Connor Howe and Dutch Kjeld Nuis and Thomas Krol were among the big names who took the starting line.
Reigning Olympic champion Kjeld Nuis finished is day at the top today in Beijing. His time of 1:43.210 allowed him to beat his Dutch teammate Thomas Krol by 0.34 seconds. Krol took the silver medal in 1:43.550 ahead of Korea's Min Seok Kim who took the bronze in 1:44.240. The Korean was also on the podium in Pyeongchang.
Norway's Peder Kongshaug, 20, and Canada's Connor Howe, 21, had strong performances finishing fourth and fifth respectively. The future seems right for these two young skaters.
