The third day of long track speed skating at the 2022 Games featured the world's best 1500m skaters. American Brittany Bowe and Japan's Ayano Sato and Miho Takagi who are currently in the top 3 on the World Cup circuit were the biggest names to watch. Reigning Olympic champion and undisputed queen of long track speed skating Ireen Wüst was also competing. In the end, it was Wüst who won the distance with a time of 1:53.280, defending her title won in Pyeongchang in 2018. This is olympic medal #12 for Wüst and she won it by establishing a new Olympic record. Japan's Miho Takagi took second in 1:53.720 while Antoinette de Jong of the Netherlands took third in 1:54.820. American Brittany Bowe, who many expected to be on the podium, finished tenth. It will be the men's turn to compete on 1500m tomorrow in Beijing.
